What Chapter Are You On

Coppin’s National Alumni Association has several subgroups
that are either in the infancy stage or booming
with activity.
The Alumni Ambassador Chapter (AAC)
- This group for “young alumni” has a mission to promote and
encourage involvement and participation of recent graduates
with Coppin State University and the CSU National Alumni
Association. Chapter president Torrion Carter ’97 is excited
about the new group. “All we have to do is continue to work
hard and plan events that young alumni want to see,” says
Carter.
AAC held an Open House on Saturday, November
18. Alums who graduated between 1985 and 2005 were in
attendance. Many graduates walked away with great door
prizes, give-a-ways and information on upcoming events. Last
December, AAC sponsored a Happy Hour, and in January, a
Family Bowling Night. Below are other events that the chapter
will hold this year:
February - Homecoming Comedy Show
March - Wine Tasting
April - Skating
May - Family Ice Cream Social
The Helene Fuld School of Nursing Chapter
- Coppin nurses got together to form this chapter of
approximately 25 members. President Rochelle Purnell MS,
RN has been leading the effort to unite Coppin alumni in the
nursing field. In January, the chapter held its first ever Prayer
Breakfast.
On Campus Alumni Chapter - Under the
direction of Kevin Carr ’03, the graduates of Coppin who
work for the University meet each month to plan the challenge
of their $25,000 commitment to the school’s $15 million
Capital Campaign. The group also likes to have fun. Two
trips to Atlantic City over the summer proved to be popular
excursions for alumni and friends alike.
The On Campus Alumni will soon have more to offer for
everyone to enjoy. Stay tuned.
The Class of 1961 - In a class by themselves, this
faithful group meets once a month. They love to meet in the
name of Coppin. Class president (then and now) Dr. Warren
Hayman, along with other class members, have planned a
Sunday Jazz Brunch at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront
on March 18, 2007. They have also planned an outing to the
Arena Playhouse to see ‘Vanities’ on Sunday, June 10, 2007.
The class welcomes any and everybody to support their efforts.
