Beatles Night
The Beatles evening gathered a
sell-out group of about 150 BCS
members and friends at the Jubilee
Hall on 3rd April. Neville Thorley’s
Midnight Hour Band opened the
entertainment with a few numbers
to warm up the assembled company,
with guest musician Robin Brown
accompanying on guitar and vocals.
Welcome back to the community
stage Rob! This was followed by a
happy half hour of Beatles songs
performed by the SCM choir, led by
Martin Hester. New arrangements of
several classics such as The Long and
Winding Road delighted the
audience, which roared its approval.
There followed an impressive
acoustic set featuring Christine
McNeal with Pedro Carvalho (All My
Loving) and Christine with Mark
Archer (Blackbird), and the MHB
again took to the stage for another
rousing set leading up to the
interval.
During the interval MC Steve
Rimmer made the draw for the
winning tickets for the raffle prizes,
which had all been donated. The
most delighted winner seemed to be
young Thomas Hermann, of the
British School band, who won a
wonderful prize of tickets to London
