rapidly distribute the action potential throughout most <strong>of</strong> the ventricles. The rapid<br />

conduction along the Purkinje fibers and the distribution <strong>of</strong> these fibers cause the<br />

depolarization <strong>of</strong> the left and right ventricular cells approximately simultaneously, thus<br />

resulting in a single coordinated contraction. Figure 2.4 illustrates the sequence <strong>of</strong><br />
