Skilled labour in USA
The poor image is due to a combination of factors:
First, the largely outdated view of manufacturing as dirty,
noisy, unsafe.
Second, the belief that, for competent students, a
university education offers higher income.
Third, the belief that the US is a post-industrial economy
whose future is in services, software, and innovation and
that manufacturing will be off-shored to the LLCCs (Low
Labor Cost Countries).
