“The most exciting part is not the flying. For
me, it’s when I get on the ground and see the
faces of the kids who just saw us fly ... that’s
the best part.”
“The crowd here was awesome. I met lots
of appreciative people, here more than other
places. The Thunderbirds travel all over the
world and being back in Youngstown for
the first time in 23 years, seeing the city,
base and extremely receptive people, in turn
actually got us fired up.”
“The welcome we received (at Youngstown
Air Reserve Station) was awesome. The
people here are great.”
- Maj. Charla Quayle, pilot no. 9
“It was an absolute thrill to perform at
Youngstown Air Reserve Station. The
welcome we received from the community
was world class. It is obvious that there is a
strong connection between the military and
the people of Youngstown.”
- Maj. John Baum, pilot no. 2
“It’s an absolute thrill to fly the F-16. This is
truly an honor.”
- Maj. Rick Goodman, pilot no. 6
“Most of (the planes) have names that the
pilots give them.”
