Each guide book has a different procedure but generally the first step is to contact the<br />

guidebook directly (ideally via email or their online <strong>for</strong>ms). When contacting<br />

guidebooks,<br />

1) Make sure to include contact in<strong>for</strong>mation,<br />

- Company name, phone number, mailing address, email and website<br />

- Company background and brief description of your services<br />

- If possible, send a media kit to the guidebook company<br />

2) Follow-up with a phone call if possible<br />

Examples of processes <strong>for</strong> contacting guidebooks:<br />

Lonely Planet<br />

�Go to their Feedback <strong>for</strong>m on their<br />

website,<br />

�Select “I am a business owner.”<br />

�Choose “Please list my business in<br />

your products” from the drop-down<br />

menu.<br />

Frommer's<br />

�On the Frommer's site, select<br />

“Request <strong>for</strong> Review.”<br />

�<strong>The</strong> site will then be directed to a<br />

section titled 'Establishment<br />

Submissions'. Click on the “Contact<br />

Us” link and craft a message on the<br />

feedback <strong>for</strong>m with the heading<br />

<strong>The</strong> research team examined 27 travel guidebooks from seven publishers <strong>for</strong> references to Eco-,<br />

Sustainable, Ethical, <strong>Responsible</strong>, Community-based and / or Green tourism. Table 44 lists all the<br />

guidebooks each brand produced <strong>for</strong> the selected destinations countries in Central America,<br />

South America, and Nepal.<br />
