The new Marinco ® 603 Pluggable Connection
System is the first 60-amp power interconnect
to replace traditional terminal blocks, which
require time-consuming wire preparation,
including wire stripping and crimping by a
certified electrician.
The interconnect system is a drop-in replacement
for terminal block connections, and it
fulfills Bellcore’s 60-amp limit for power
conducted by single cable to a switch. Using
the 603 system, technicians can replace PCB
power boards in about 3 minutes, compared
to up to 30 minutes for an electrician rewiring
a traditional terminal block.
The 603RAH is the Right-Angle Header component
that mounts directly onto the PCB,
using the same footprint as a standard
terminal block. The Header is also available
in a Straight-Mount configuration, the
603STH. Each Header has three, industrystandard
.550 centerline-spaced pins that
interconnect with the female 603RAC
Right-Angle Connector component.
The 3-wire Connector accepts up to 6-gauge
wire and has two sets of terminal entries: by
removing two holding screws, the
Connector’s cover can be detached, allowing
the installer to insert the three wires into either
the top or the bottom side of the Connector,
depending upon the end-user’s preference
and space considerations.
The Connector itself can only mate with
the Header’s pins in one orientation,
making it impossible for technicians to
plug it in the “wrong way.”
The heart of the system is the patented
Radsok ® Hyperbolic Cylinder. As a male pin
is inserted in the gun barrel-like cylinder, the
cylinder’s grid deflects, imparting high normal
forces. The hyperbolic grid design ensures
minimal voltage loss and joule heating, at the
same time making it very easy to insert the
pins into the Connector (low-insertion force).
The cylinders are very rugged, allowing for
repeated insertions and off-axis insertions.
