INFORMATION CONCERNING THE LIFESPAN
OF SIMOND VIA FERRATA LANYARDS
Folllowing a meeting of the UIAA on 6 February 2013 concerning via ferrata lanyards, all manufacturers producing
via ferrata sets have agreed to issue clarification to customers regarding the lifespan of these products. Simond is
a member of the UIAA and has created this information sheet for its customers.
Via ferrata lanyards use textiles that, over time and depending on their amount of use, storage conditions and natural aging,
will degrade without any obvious visible signs. It is essential that customers read user instruction sheets carefully as well
as follow manufacturers recommendations concerning their correct storage and use. Customers must retire products at the
end of their lifespan, as indicated on user instruction sheets.
To prevent obsolete and worn products being used by inexperienced clients, SIMOND has clearly indicated the lifespan for
all its via ferrata lanyards since it first started manufacturing them in 1999.
