this argument could be refuted
by performing a rating under real
conditions: In a pig fattening unit
with 600 animal spaces in the east
of the German federal state of Brandenburg
data were collected on a
weekly basis, which lead to positive
results. Operators and stable staff are
very content with the ventilating per-
formance and they say that the handling
of the climate computer is easy
and intuitional. The animals gained
weight at an average of 400 g per
day (animals with a weight of 5 kg
up to 27 kg), which was good and
the share of CO² emissions at minimal
ventilation was considerably
below the critical value of 3,000
ppm (according to the regulations for
pig breeding).
