Why CICS? New in CICS TS 3.2. CICS TS V3.2 delivers a wide range of new capabilities, which are grouped in three areas: ● CICS service management. Improvements include easier management of program libraries; support for enterprise-wide workload management; enhancements to CICSPlex System Manager and its Web user interface; and threadsafe enhancements. The current IBM System z systems are true mainframes. On Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, IBM announced the new z10 EC mainframe - 100 models, with up to 64 processors. ● More detailed summary: Enterprise computing system, with lots of processing power, continually being enhanced, with very wide I/O bandwidth, comprehensive instruction set, efficient resource sharing, very capable resource management capabilities, 64-bit architecture, supporting many simultaneous processes/programs, all efficiently managed with an enterprise caliber OS.
