Presidents Report
The past year the Loyola Ex Students Association has
continued to grow and further establish itself within
the Loyola College Community. LEXSA has worked
tirelessly to ensure that it becomes a sustainable and
ongoing contributor to the life of the College.
Mrs. Nicole Scott, a former student of the College has
been appointed as the new Secretary and has already
contributed an amazing amount to LEXSA creating
new links and opportunities for the involvement of exstudents.
During the past year LEXSA contributed much to
the College including money raised from our raffle,
attendance at major events, conducting past student
reunions, contact with ex-students via ‘The Companion’
and the donation of awards to current students.
Personally it is a very special year for my class who
commenced at the College in 1980 and graduated in
1985. We were the foundation members of the College
and it was great to catch up with old friends at our 25
year reunion earlier this year. I will never forget the
spirit that existed in the College during that first year
at Loyola in 1980. The school consisted of 4 portable
classrooms and lots of mud and dust. We used planks
to enter the classrooms and when we finally moved to
the newly built A Block we were not allowed to wear
shoes into the building.
I don’t think there was
one day that year when
I went home with the
same pair of shoes.
Great memories.
At the reunion we were
kindly escorted on an
extremely interesting
tour of the College by
Maureen Lonsdale –
Community Liaison.
It was incredible to see
how far Loyola College
has come. Everyone
involved in the College should be congratulated on
their efforts in making Loyola such a great place.
This year LEXSA will continue to grow and we look
forward to developing new opportunities to involve
more ex-students in life at the College and on the
committee. I look forward to your ongoing support.

From The Editor
I am extremely excited to be
a part of LEXSA and to have
the opportunity to contact
and catch up with so many
ex-students of Loyola College.
Thank you so much to those
of you who have taken the
time to write articles and send
photographs for inclusion in
‘The Companion’. I would
also like to thank everyone
who has welcomed me
into the role at Loyola as
LEXSA Secretary, particularly those on the LEXSA
Committee, Maureen Lonsdale, Anne Hughes and
Tony Chirico.
Having successfully completed the then VCE in 1989
I was nervous and excited to attend our year levels
20th reunion. I am so glad that this opportunity was
available to me, not only to catch up with old friends,
but to come back and see all the growth at the College
and to be able to remember time as a student and as
a younger person. The memories and emotions that
arise are amazing. I highly recommend everyone attend
their own year level reunion and truly believe that as an
ex-student you appreciate more what a fabulous school
Loyola is particularly its beautiful environment.
In this Loyola’s 30th year, our publications will focus
on change and growth. It is the goal of LEXSA that
all ex-students near and far will at some time be
featured in ‘The Companion’. Feel free to write your
own news, attach a photograph and forward it to me
to be included in ‘The Companion’. I look forward
to hearing anything at all about past students and
teachers - weddings, academic/sporting achievements,
business projects, travel, babies and social events with
other past students. Please keep your contact details
up to date.
