Adopt-a-<strong>Trail</strong> Program<br />

Open to businesses, organizations,<br />

families and/or individuals, the Adopta-<strong>Trail</strong><br />

Program allows sections of the<br />

trail to be adopted and maintained<br />

at different levels best suited to the<br />

adopter.<br />

Adopters will be recognized with<br />

trail markers and also on the <strong>Polly</strong><br />

<strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Trail</strong> website. Adopt-a-<strong>Trail</strong><br />

applications are available on the<br />

website.<br />

Volunteers<br />

The <strong>Polly</strong> <strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Trail</strong> works with<br />

individuals and groups to support and<br />

maintain the trail. Please contact<br />

the <strong>Trail</strong> Manager for volunteer<br />

opportunities.<br />

For the Safety and Enjoyment of All:<br />

• <strong>Trail</strong> is open during daylight hours<br />

only<br />

• No motorized vehicles<br />

• Stay on the trail<br />

• Picking or collecting is prohibited<br />

• No hunting, fishing, or trapping<br />

allowed<br />

• No weapons of any kind<br />

• Bicyclists yield to all, pedestrians<br />

yield to horses<br />

• Horses walk only<br />

• Give audible warning before passing<br />

on the left<br />

• Pets must be on a leash that is less<br />

than 6 feet in length<br />

• Owners are required to clean up after<br />

their dogs or horses<br />

• Possession and/or consumption of<br />

alcoholic beverages is prohibited<br />

• Speed limit 15 mph<br />

• Helmets are recommended for<br />

cyclists, skaters, etc.<br />

• Leave the trail better that you found<br />

it — pick up litter and dispose of all<br />

trash in appropriate receptacles<br />

The <strong>Oakland</strong> County <strong>Polly</strong> <strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Trail</strong><br />

is a rail-to-trail project that runs<br />

16.9 miles through <strong>Oakland</strong> County,<br />

Michigan in Orion Township, Oxford<br />

Township, the Village of Oxford,<br />

Addison Township and the Village of<br />

Leonard. The <strong>Polly</strong> <strong>Ann</strong> <strong>Trail</strong> is part<br />

of an important network of trails and<br />

greenways in Southeast Michigan.<br />

<strong>Trail</strong>s provide affordable and easily<br />

accessible recreation, boost the local<br />

economy and tourism, and increase<br />

property values. <strong>Trail</strong>s are a safe<br />

alternative transportation route for<br />

pedestrians and cyclists and provide<br />

numerous health benefits. <strong>Trail</strong>s also<br />

provide environmental protection and<br />

preservation.<br />

Equestrian Use<br />

Equestrians are encouraged to enjoy<br />

the trail in its rural northern section<br />

east of the M-24 bridge in Oxford.<br />

Beautiful country roads supply diverse<br />

connecting routes to the trail.<br />

Equestrian trailer friendly parking can<br />

be found at the Leonard <strong>Trail</strong>head and<br />

the Hosner Road parking lot.<br />

The trail was originally constructed<br />

to meet ADA accessibility standards.<br />
