Motors, generators and transformers
The Duty Holder has a legal requirement
to ensure that High Voltage network
maintenance has been carried out to a
suitable standard, and to ensure that your
network’s condition allows it to function
safely in normal operation and to ‘fail
safe’ under fault conditions. So ERIKS
Power Service maintenance delivers:
n FREE initial Site Survey
n Certified documentation of
maintenance schedules carried
out at recommended frequencies
n Fully trained, authorised and
ERIKS has electromechanical repair
workshops nationwide, able to carry
out maintenance, repairs and rewinds
to all types of rotating, electrical and
electronic equipment. Our service
includes fractional horsepower
equipment to 168,000 kilowatts and
55 tonnes, all backed by a management
system accredited to ISO 9001.
These sites and their engineers are
accredited to undertake work on
electrical equipment used in hazardous
areas, and ERIKS was the first UK
company to achieve this certification.
However, our resources are only part of
the story. What’s also important is our
determination to get to the root cause of
your problems.
Motor failures in particular are very
often suffered unnecessarily. By
working closely with your electrical and
mechanical engineers – on areas such
as drive-end bearing failure, coupling
alignment and other problems which
can cause the ultimate destruction of
windings – we can re-engineer the
problems out of your equipment, to
reduce your costs and limit the impact
on the plant.
n Vacuum pressure impregnation
of windings – allowing our
engineers to solve problems for
train operators
n Coil manufacturing facility with
copper rolling – for rebuilding
motors and generators
n Commutator manufacturing
facility
These facilities and capabilities eliminate
the delays which can arise when waiting
for outside suppliers, and enable us to
fully repair and refurbish your motors,
generators and transformers in the
shortest possible time.
We also conduct the following tests –
before and after repair – so that we clearly
identify the work required, and ensure it
has been successfully carried out:
n EL CID
n RSO testing
n IMCA (Induction Motor
Current Analyser)
n Insulation resistance
n Partial discharge analyser
n Tan Delta testing
n TVA Probe testing
n Underwater testing –
used after the VPI (Vacuum
Pressure Impregnation)
High and medium voltage
services (to 33kVA)
High voltage power supply is a highly
specialist area – so ERIKS has a
dedicated division providing maintenance
and repair services for HV switchgear
and transformer equipment, as well as
improving power supply efficiency to
enhance the operation of your equipment.
Recent changes in the Health and
Safety at Work Act have increased
your obligation to regularly maintain
power supplies.
competent persons, aware of
current operational restrictions
applicable to your site network
(SOPs and DINs)
n Reports on the condition
of the network equipment,
including recommendations and
considerations
n Full support and call-out facility
responding in case of emergency
or unplanned loss of supply
ERIKS’ HV-LV teams also offer:
n Transformer manufacture, testing,
repair and rewinds
n Transformer/Rectifier
manufacture and repair
n Switchgear installation
and testing
n Cable installation and testing
n Welding transformer repairs
n Oil filtration service
n Oil sampling and analysis
n Transformer painting
Bearings
Bearings are a key element in every
rotating machine yet, according to SKF,
up to 57% fail before their design life
due to lubrication problems, fatigue,
incorrect installation or contamination.
ERIKS is unique in being able to
provide guidance and technical support
across all types and brands. Our teams
can evaluate an application, bearing
selection, sealing and lubrication, and
offer installation services with the total
support of all leading manufacturers.
Through Revolvo, an ERIKS company
based in Dudley, we are also
manufacturers ourselves, producing
split roller bearings, remanufactured
bearings, and specialist and obsolete/
imperial sizes – all to short lead-times to
ensure you have the bearing you want
as quickly as you need it.
Major savings
Revolvo Split Roller Bearings (SRB)
are responsible for some of the largest
savings in maintenance costs for
rotating equipment.
The ability to change bearings without
removing shafts (or the rest of the
machine around it) is only part of the story.
The Revolvo SRB is engineered to last
longer and is easier to replace – and
because it is manufactured in the UK
by ERIKS, it has the highest levels
of availability.
n Ideal solution for power station
ash conditioners and coal
handling conveyors
n Ash conditioner screw support
bearings required special seals
available from Revolvo on
SRB units
n Conveyor pulley support bearings
operate 24/7, so must be quick to
replace. Our concentric seals work
at 100% efficiency, and the split
design slashes the replacement
time even for the pulley side
ERIKS is also the only national Certified Maintenance
partner for SKF, and the original Asset Improvement
Programme partner of NSK. With our team of
experienced engineers, designers and specialists,
this makes us the perfect choice to help you identify
performance improvements and TCO savings throughout
the lifecycle of your bearings.
