Aromatherapy Javanese Back Facial Asmara Tjintha Massage Javanese Totok Facial
Revitalisation:
Tjantek-style
“A true authentic Javanese style spa is
here in Kuching! Once a closely guarded
secret kept under wraps is now an
open secret to help rejuvenate the
mind, body and spirit”
Though once a closely guarded secret kept under wraps
behind the Javanese palace walls, these beauty rituals can
now be fully indulged at Tjantek (pronounced ‘cantik’
and means ‘beautiful’ in old Indonesian spelling) Spa,
an idyllic retreat offering the perfect antidote to help
rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit.
“All facial and massage treatments have been created
luxuriously so that each person can thoroughly experience
and enjoy the authentic Javanese ritual of relaxation
and pampering,” said spa founder Surainee Abdul
Latif, who first established Tjantek Spa in Miri before
setting up the second branch here in February this year.
Under the caring hands of three highly experienced
therapists from Java, clients are assured of a rewarding
ritual through the spa’s variety of holistic services using
traditional Javanese massage techniques that incorporates
thumb and palm pressure in an intense, medium to
strong, deep-tissue massage. For complete body bliss,
Surainee recommended the invigorating Javanese full
body massage to stimulate blood circulation and improve
energy flow, and body lulur, one of the signature
treatments available here.
“The body lulur is a whole body exfoliation treatment
where lulur paste is applied to exfoliate the skin and
slough away dead skin cells,” said Surainee. “After
the body has been exfoliated, home-made yoghurt is
applied to the body to maintain the pH balance of the
skin. As a result, one’s skin will definitely feel smooth
and soft after the treatment.” According to Surainee,
the lulur are made fresh using only natural ingredients
and clients will be able to select from eight types such
as Bali coffee, lavender and vanilla, floral sea salt, cocoa
butter, mangir herbal, mocha spice, coconut honey and
orange coconut, each of which are highly beneficial in
their own way.
Other treatments available include the aromatherapy
Javanese back facial, the first of its kind at the spa that
comprises of a back wash, back scrub, full masking and a
soothing back massage as well as Javanese totok facial,
a full facial massage that concentrates on the acupressure
point of the face and is well-known to improve blood
circulation and promote healthy facial glow.
At Tjantek Spa, freshly brewed jamu are also available
where in Indonesia, the concoction herbal drink is
known for its health attributes. “Usually taken by women,
we have six types of jamu such as jamu sehat wanita,
tolak angin, awet ayu, kuku bima, empot2, and rapet,
each of which promotes attributes such as improving
blood circulation, skin complexion and so on,”
explained Surainee.
In line with the spa’s value-for-money proposition,
Tjantek Spa has a variety of spa packages tailored to
their clients with price starting from only RM125 such
as the Royal Essential Touch package for instance, that
lets client choose from either a choice of Javanese
body massage, Javanese facial, Javanese cream bath or
Bolus herbal pack and also includes the body lulur.
Javanese Post Maternity package is available for new-mums,
who are looking for some quality ‘me’ time will therefore
be able to indulge in treatments specifically tailored,
as per Javanese traditional confinement practise such as
“Javanese Bengkung Wrap”. For Brides-to-be, indulge in a
