These helpful symbols let you quickly see the key
characteristics of a product. For example, on all our
chef’s wear we show you the cotton content and the
weight in grams per sq metre of the fabric.

Cotton Fibre Content: This tells you the
proportion of cotton in the fabric, as a
percentage. Generally, higher cotton
content makes clothes softer and more
luxurious, but will possibly mean a shorter
wear life. More cotton takes longer to dry.
Fabric Weight: This tells you the weight of
the fabric, in grams per sq metre. Generally,
the lighter weight fabrics are cooler and
more comfortable to wear.
The Staycool System is used in our Le Chef
and AFD ranges of garments, all of which
incorporate cellular Thermocool fibre in
parts of the garment. This aids ventilation
and moisture transfer away from the body.
These garments can still be laundered
industrially.
Industrial Washing: This means that the
fabric and/or the fastenings and contrasts
are capable of withstanding repeated
washing in an industrial laundry. This
generally means they can be washed at up
to 70°C.
Maximum Washing Temperature: This
shows the highest temperature (Celsius) you
can wash the garment at, without impairing
its look, finish or integrity.
Soil Release: These fabrics are easier to wash
clean at lower temperatures. This is because
they have been put through further processes
in their manufacture to inhibit stains and dirt
becoming ingrained into the centre of the
fibres.
Bleach Resistance: These fabrics have
protection from accidental marking by
bleach and other kitchen chemicals.
Generally, this is because these printed or
dyed fabrics have been processed using VAT
or reactive inks.
Crease Resistance: These items require less
ironing to remove creases, either due to the
fabrics used or treatment during
manufacture.
Hand Wash Only: We only recommend
hand washing certain delicate items.
Dry Clean: We recommend dry cleaning
certain items.
