Examples ‣ So what does the splint actually do to maintain or regain ROM • Muscles and soft tissues constantly held in a lengthened or shortened position will adapt to that position and become longer or shorter. • The splint either prevents this occurring in ‘at risk’ muscle groups or re alters the length by providing a prolonged low load stretch to the shortened muscles.
