APPEAL
Dear Brothers and
Sisters in the Lord,
I am sure you must wonder what happens to your donation.
Let me outline a few of our costs. I don’t have to
tell you that young people have hearty appetites. Although
our cook, Candace Forcier is very provident,
every month we spend a minimum of $4,000.00 for food
and household supplies.
We bring in the finest teachers available.
In the last month we were blessed with teachings from
Father Scott McCaig, the priest in charge of the Companions
of the Cross in Ottawa, Father Terry Donahue,
Secretary to the Papal Nuncio, also in Ottawa, Mr. Jim
Murphy, the American who courageously carried a huge
cross across the United States from coast to coast,
Father Clare Watrin, well­known founder of the Live­
In Movement, and now a missionary in St. Lucia in the
Caribbean. These are just a sampling of the caliber of
teachers at the Bible School. As you can imagine,
stipends and air fares are quite costly. There there are
all those other costs, such as salaries, office supplies,
utilities, newsletter production, postage, vehicle
maintenance, gasoline, advertising and insurance,
taxes, etc. The list could go on and on.
Four times a year, I come to you and acknowledge our
poverty, our financial need. For some reason, our donations
are down considerably from last year. I know Jesus
told us in Chapter 6 of St. Matthew not to worry
what we are to eat, to wear, etc. Yet in my humanity, I
have come to battle hard against worry. Jesus foresaw
that one, too.
He reminds me all the time of his commandment:
“Which of you, by worrying, can add a single thing to
your life So I tell you, ­ Do not worry!
Your heavenly Father knows the things that you need.
Who among you would give his son a snake if he asked
for a fish”
So Lord, please help me to live by your Word and not by
the evidence of my senses. Help me to know that my sight
is often the enemy of my vision, your vision, Lord. It is
your plan that I learn to trust in you, as a child has trust
in his father.
Forgive me, Father, for all those times I failed to have
expectant faith in your overflowing abundance, full measure,
pressed down and running over. Help my unbelief,
Father. Help me to live every day not by bread alone, but
by every word proceeding from your mouth. Thank you
Father for providing for all our needs according to your
riches in glory!
I thank you, our friends, for all your open hearted generosity
and listening to my appeal for funds. I want to thank
you for being sensitive to the promptings of the Holy
Spirit, as he invites you to be sharers and companions
with us in our ministry to youth. God never forgets a
single thing. As you give to the Lord’s work, expect Him
to fill your storehouse with immeasurable and bountiful
blessings.
