Intention To Use Contraception<br />

This indicator applies to women not currently using any type of contraception. Non-users were asked,<br />

“Do you think you will use a contraceptive method to delay or avoid getting pregnant at any time in<br />

the future” The indicator is based on the proportion of non-users answering yes.<br />

Fifty-eight percent of non-users among all women ages 15 to 49 intend to adopt a contraceptive<br />

method in the future. Among married women, 54.6% intend to use. Intention to use contraception<br />

among married women is highest in the younger women (72.9% for women ages 15 to 19 and<br />

73.7% for women ages 20 to 24) and those living in rural areas (55.3%). Intention to use is highest<br />

in SNNPR and Tigray regions.<br />
