Electricity for Stationary Engineering, 72 hours<br />

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 am-noon OR 6-9 pm<br />

This course will provide each student with electrical principles, theory and safety. Students will have an introduction to<br />

electrical symbols, prints, schematics, wiring, pictorial, and ladder electrical diagrams enhancing the skills necessary for<br />

basic electrical troubleshooting techniques. The course will also provide the student with the undertanding of safety<br />

using Lock-out Tag-out practices. Theory and practical knowledge will be taught to use multimeters, series circuits,<br />

parallel circuits, Ohms Law, residential and commercial wiring.<br />

HVAC Electrical Troubleshooting, 72 hours<br />

Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 am-noon OR 6-9 pm<br />

This course will provide each student the practical understanding of electrical controls, operation of HVAC and<br />

circuitry in order to understand its operation. Student will use instruments and tools to diagnose basic control<br />

circuits and HVAC cycle to determine faults and problems impeding normal operation of the HVAC device due to<br />

circuit or HVAC mechanical component failure, air conditioning and preventive maintenance will be covered.<br />

Refrigeration for Stationary Engineering, 72 hours<br />

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 pm<br />

Provides students with a thorough understanding of the refrigeration process including appropriate environmental<br />

concerns. Included in the course are the functions and applications of the components of the refrigeration system,<br />

such as compressors, drive mechanisms, evaporators, condensers, liquid receivers, heat exchangers, expansion valves,<br />

metering devices, dryers, sight glasses and more.<br />

Black Seal Steam, 72 hours<br />

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30-8:30 pm<br />

Basics of boiler operations. An understanding of safety valves, water level devices, blow-down systems, fuel pumps<br />

and fuel preparation, feed water and circulating pumps, turbines, condensers, heat exchangers, soot blowers, steam<br />

separators, DA tanks, and all other auxiliary equipment associated with turbine operation. Students will review<br />

appropriate rules and regulations for boiler and boiler operations in preparation for the New Jersey State Black Seal<br />

Fireman’s License Examination.<br />

OSHA-10 - General Industry Safety <strong>Training</strong><br />

Classes Also Available at Your Job Site Upon Request<br />

This is the 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health Course. Topics will include an introduction to the Occupational<br />

Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), walking and working surfaces, exit routes, emergency action plans, fire<br />

prevention plans, electrical issues and more. Students will receive course completion cards. Instructors are OSHA-<br />

Authorized. To schedule a class at your job site, call the <strong>Local</strong> <strong>68</strong> <strong>Training</strong> <strong>Center</strong>.<br />

Tuition Information:<br />

<strong>Local</strong> <strong>68</strong> Members from Contributing Sites:<br />

$225 per year (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31) plus the cost of books<br />

<strong>Local</strong> <strong>68</strong> Members from Non-Contributing Sites:<br />

$450 per year (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31) plus the cost of books<br />

Non-<strong>Local</strong> <strong>68</strong> Members/Public Students:<br />

$700 per semester plus the cost of books<br />

Site-specific training is available upon request. Please<br />

contact the <strong>Training</strong> <strong>Center</strong> for any of your educational<br />

needs. Classes are subject to change based on participation.<br />
