Caroline County Bounty Land and Pension Applications<br />
Collison applied for a bounty land warrant on Mar 22, 1855, age 72, residing in Talbot County.<br />
COLLISON, John (<strong>of</strong> Peter)/2nd sgt, company <strong>of</strong> Capt James Rich, Aug 15 - Sep 1 1813. Applied for<br />
bounty land Mar 1, 1851 - states he is age about 63, residing in Caroline County, drafted at Denton;<br />
acquaintance: Edward Collison, age about 68, states he had known John Collison for the previous 50<br />
years. John Collison applied for bounty land Oct 21, 1856, age 69, residing in Caroline County;<br />
acquaintances: John Butler <strong>of</strong> Moses and James Richardson, residing in Caroline County. Received<br />
warrant for 160 acres.<br />
CONNELLY, James (<strong>of</strong> Jesse)/Private, company <strong>of</strong> Capt Peter Willis, Aug 15 - ? 1813. Widow applied<br />
for bounty land June 23, 1855, age about 58, residing in Caroline County - states he was drafted at Dicks<br />
Old Field on or about July 25, 1813, she married James Connelly, Caroline County Aug 20, <strong>1812</strong> by Rev<br />
Samuel Raughley, her prev name was Nancy Thomas, he died at his residence on Sep 19, 1838;<br />
acquaintances: Elijah Jester and Jeremiah Dukes, residing in Caroline County. Wid applies for bounty<br />
land Jan 1, 1857 - acquaintance: Newton Andrew, age 65, residing in Caroline County states that James<br />
Connelly was drafted and mustered into service at Collins Cross Roads under the command <strong>of</strong> Capt<br />
Satterfield and that he was transferred to Willis' company when Satterfield's company was disbanded.<br />
However this is not borne out by the muster and pay rolls. Widow applied for bounty land June 23, 1857;<br />
acquaintances: Ann Connelly and Susan Connelly, residing in Caroline County, state that James<br />
Connelly died Caroline County Oct 1836 and was buried at the premises where they now live. Ann was<br />
age 47 and Susan was age 45. Bounty land claims were rejected.<br />
CORKRAN, Elisha/Private, company <strong>of</strong> Capt Peter Willis, Aug 15 - 30 1813. Applied for bounty land<br />
June 29, 1855, age 63, residing in New Hope, Caroline County - states that at the time <strong>of</strong> his service he<br />
was living near Federalsburg. Received warrant for 160 acres.<br />
CORKRAN, Peter/Private, company <strong>of</strong> Capt Henry Harris, May 11 - 16 1813. Applied for bounty land<br />
Dec 27, 1856 - states he is age 66, residing in Dorchester County, drafted at Dick's Old Field. Wit: James<br />
Davis and William Chance, residing in Dorchester County. Bounty land claim rejected.<br />
COVEY Andrew/Private, company <strong>of</strong> Capt Peter Willis, Aug 15 - 30 1813. Bounty land, application was<br />
made by William Corkran on June 19, 1858 as guardian <strong>of</strong> the minor children <strong>of</strong> Andrew Covey. These<br />
children were: Salley, Manda J., John and Richard.. Wit: Jacob Covey and William H. Charles, residence<br />
<strong>of</strong> Caroline County. Bounty land claim was rejected.<br />
COVEY, William/Private, company <strong>of</strong> Capt Peter Willis, Aug 15 - 30 1813. Born Caroline County;<br />
drafted at Denton when he was a farmer; five feet 10 ½ inches tall, black curly hair; blue or gray eyes;<br />
dark complexion; married. (1) Milcah Corry and (2) Margaret A. Bozman in 1855 by Rev Joseph H.<br />
Mann in Federalsburg; died near Federalsburg in 1857. John H. Williams attended the wedding. William<br />
Covey applied for bounty land May18, 1855, age 63; acquaintances: Newton Andrew and William<br />
Wright <strong>of</strong> C, residing in Caroline County. Wid applied for pension June 24, 1879, age 54, residing in<br />
Federalsburg; acquaintances: Thomas H. White, age 81 and Elizabeth Wright, residing in Smithville<br />
(both) stated that they had known Margaret A. Covey for 50 years and 24 years respectively. Post <strong>of</strong>fice<br />
address in 1879 was in care <strong>of</strong> D. O. P. Elliot, Federalsburg. In 1880 correspondence showed that<br />
Margaret was living two miles from the post <strong>of</strong>fice, between Federalsburg and Seaford. She died July 1,<br />
1910. In a letter dated July 11. 1910, Federalsburg <strong>Maryland</strong>, John<br />
