benefits available for upgrading my
personal skills at work
As a member, you can claim 50% unfunded
course fee support, capped at $250 each year
when you sign up for courses supported under
UTAP (Union Training Assistance Programme).
You are also able to benefit from NTUC-SEP
(Surrogate Employer’s Programme). This is a
funding programme whereby NTUC acts as a
Surrogate Employer assists employed NTUC
members who are unable to get their employer
sponsorship to obtain course fees funding
support for certificate training.
I am unsure of the procedure for
referring employment disputes to
tripartite mediation
WHAT should I do
Being a PME, you may wish to resolve your
employment dispute by tripartite mediation, you will
first have to inform your union or the NTUC about
the dispute.
If the dispute is one that can be referred to tripartite
mediation, the union or the NTUC will notify the
Commissioner who will then assign or appoint the
following persons to assist in the tripartite
mediation:
• A conciliation officer to conduct the mediation
sessions;
• A tripartite mediation advisor (TMA) and possibly an
officer from the employee’s union, to assist the
employee; and
• A TMA and possibly a representative from any
business organisation that the employer is a member
of, to assist the employer.
