We continually try to improve our marketing material and we hope that everything has been set out in a transparent way. At Brown & Co we have been very pleased with the results of our previous auctions this year. It was a big step to move our sales to the Assembly House in Norwich, but the result has borne fruit. We had over 250 people at the September sale, generating outstanding results. The auction team have continued to be busy since then and we are delighted to have 15 entries for this sale. As always, I am very grateful to our clients, friends and introducing agents for their instructions, which represent a broad spectrum of the property market in our area. As we strive to do the best we can for our clients we are always looking at new marketing material and are confident that the arrangements we now have in place for collection of deposits, etc work well on the day of the sale. One new innovation is that the auction legal packs are available online, which we hope will assist buyers. In an ever changing market we continue to strive to improve the service, working closely with Archant Newspapers, and the EDP24 homepage is continuing to attract more and more interest with our auction articles under the pseudonym “Under the Hammer” continuing to be of interest to buyers and sellers alike. We hope that our multi-discipline approach is making a difference and both Trevor Blythe and myself and our entire auction team look forward to helping people with their property requirements. Looking back – Summer 2011 Our Autumn sale was a great success with 20 out of 21 lots sold on or before the auction. We had a full house with plenty of bidding for a wide variety of property in the city & county and throughout the price ranges. With a total value close to £4.1 million, this was one of the most successful auctions held in the city for many years. The demand has shown that there is certainly a strong market for accurately priced property. Norwich property sold well with some outstanding results, many well in excess of reserve prices. A terrace in Wellington Road sold for £145,000 confirming the demand for property in the Golden Triangle area of Norwich but also that this approach is certainly a good way of maximising potential value. In North-West Norfolk, a detached house on the edge of Burnham Overy Staithe sold for a figure of £606,000, which was way over the reserve, confirming that there is still high demand in this part of the county despite the economic gloom. Closer to home four farmhouses all within easy reach of the city and all needing some renovation sold well, confirming the demand for quality period property within striking distance of the city. We hope that our new auction venue and distinctive approach will continue to enable us to develop and expand this area of our operation and look forward to continuing to help our clients.
