Natural History Lloyds the International Leader Somers Handling was originally a division within Walter Somers, the Forgemaster, which was incorporated in 1866. The handling division was originally set up to design and develop innovative handling solutions and equipment for use throughout the forge for lifting, rotating and transporting the various shapes and sizes produced within the business from the original ingot through to the finished forged component. Some of the original automatic gravity tongs pioneered by the Somers designers of the time remain in use at Somers Forge in Halesowen in the U.K. The company has not stood still and whilst it remains one of the worlds leading suppliers of handling equipment to the metal producing industries, it has diversified into the Rail Industry for the design and supply of Lifting Jacks, Bogie Handling Equipment and Depot Workshop Equipment.
