About <strong>BOCODOL</strong><br />
The Botswana College of Distance and Open<br />
Learning (<strong>BOCODOL</strong>) is a semi-autonomous<br />
institution established in December 1998 by an Act<br />
of Parliament. Its mandate is to make education and<br />
training accessible to out of school youth and adults<br />
using open and distance learning methods.<br />
About the Programme<br />
The Diploma is designed to introduce the learner to<br />
the concepts, issues and practices that are<br />
essential to human resources management in<br />
business and the industry.<br />
Programme Aims<br />
After completing this programme learners will have<br />
acquired:<br />
l knowledge and skills in Human Resources<br />
Management<br />
l ability to apply the principles, methodologies<br />
and ideas of human resource management to a<br />
changing organisational environment.<br />
l Insight into the current trends in human resource<br />
management<br />
Programme Structure<br />
The programme consists of two parts each with<br />
seven courses.<br />

Delivery Mode<br />
The programme is delivered using open and<br />
distance learning methods. Upon registration<br />
learners are given study packages comprising study<br />
materials and assignments. They can then study at<br />
anytime, anywhere and at their own pace.<br />
Additional support will be available in the form of:<br />
l Information booklets and letters<br />
l Face to face sessions<br />
l Telephone contact<br />
l Feedback on marked assignments<br />
l Guidance and counselling.<br />
Programme Duration<br />
The programme takes 24 months. Each of the two<br />
parts takes 12 months.<br />
Assessment<br />
Apart from self-assessment built in the course<br />
materials, learners are assessed on the basis of<br />
coursework and final examinations. Coursework<br />
comprises assignments and a project done during<br />
the programme. At the end of each semester<br />
learners write a final examination for each of the<br />
courses they took. Both coursework and final<br />
examination contribute to the final mark used for<br />
accreditation.<br />
Entry Requirements:<br />
l At least four passes at BGCSE or equivalent<br />
plus credits (Grade C or better) in Mathematics<br />
and English or<br />
l At least four passes at BGCSE or equivalent<br />
plus a certificate in Human Resources<br />
Management<br />
l JC plus (5) five years relevant experience and a<br />
certificate in Human Resources<br />
