About BOCODOL
The Botswana College of Distance and Open
Learning (BOCODOL) is a semi-autonomous
institution established in December 1998 by an Act
of Parliament. Its mandate is to make education and
training accessible to out of school youth and adults
using open and distance learning methods.
About the Programme
The Diploma is designed to introduce the learner to
the concepts, issues and practices that are
essential to human resources management in
business and the industry.
Programme Aims
After completing this programme learners will have
acquired:
l knowledge and skills in Human Resources
Management
l ability to apply the principles, methodologies
and ideas of human resource management to a
changing organisational environment.
l Insight into the current trends in human resource
management
Programme Structure
The programme consists of two parts each with
seven courses.

Delivery Mode
The programme is delivered using open and
distance learning methods. Upon registration
learners are given study packages comprising study
materials and assignments. They can then study at
anytime, anywhere and at their own pace.
Additional support will be available in the form of:
l Information booklets and letters
l Face to face sessions
l Telephone contact
l Feedback on marked assignments
l Guidance and counselling.
Programme Duration
The programme takes 24 months. Each of the two
parts takes 12 months.
Assessment
Apart from self-assessment built in the course
materials, learners are assessed on the basis of
coursework and final examinations. Coursework
comprises assignments and a project done during
the programme. At the end of each semester
learners write a final examination for each of the
courses they took. Both coursework and final
examination contribute to the final mark used for
accreditation.
Entry Requirements:
l At least four passes at BGCSE or equivalent
plus credits (Grade C or better) in Mathematics
and English or
l At least four passes at BGCSE or equivalent
plus a certificate in Human Resources
Management
l JC plus (5) five years relevant experience and a
certificate in Human Resources
