PROLOGUE<br />
The Government <strong>of</strong> India is responsible for ensuring the <strong>Defence</strong> <strong>of</strong> India. The Supreme<br />
Command <strong>of</strong> the Armed Forces vests in the President <strong>of</strong> India. The responsibility for<br />
<strong>Defence</strong> <strong>of</strong> the country rests with the Cabinet. This is discharged through the <strong>Ministry</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Defence</strong>, which provides the policy framework and wherewithal to the Armed Forces<br />
to discharge their responsibilities for defence <strong>of</strong> the country.<br />
The prime task <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Defence</strong> is to prepare for <strong>Defence</strong> <strong>of</strong> the country by<br />
providing required Infrastructure, adequate trained Manpower and <strong>Defence</strong> Equipment<br />
and Platforms to the Armed Forces. During the last few months, the <strong>Ministry</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Defence</strong> and the Armed Forces have fast-tracked efforts to enhance defence<br />

LCA Tejas was inducted into Air Force in the presence<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Raksha Mantri Shri Manohar Parrikar.<br />
The LCA programme witnessed another milestone<br />

Tejas LCA for Air Force, took its first flight. PV6 also<br />

The air defence system in the IAF is in the process <strong>of</strong><br />

the entire air space. The IAF has successfully inducted<br />

Cyclone Hudud<br />
A very severe cyclonic storm ‘Hudud’ swept<br />
through the coastal areas <strong>of</strong> Andhra Pradesh and<br />
Odisha wreaking havoc. The Armed Forces moved<br />
in swiftly to provide relief and minimize the<br />
effects <strong>of</strong> the cyclone.<br />
Controlling MASSIVE FOREST fire<br />
Prime forests near Vishakapatnam were engulfed<br />
by forest fires in November 2014. IAF deployed<br />
Four MI-17 V5 helicopters with Bambi Buckets<br />
to douse the fire. Each <strong>of</strong> these buckets can carry<br />
upto 3,500 liters <strong>of</strong> water. Nearly 1,00,000 liters<br />
<strong>of</strong> water was sprinkled to put out the fire.<br />

New initiatives are being taken in documentation<br />
<strong>of</strong> history <strong>of</strong> war which include writing <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>of</strong> documentaries on World War-I, World War-II,<br />

The Government has decided to build a National War<br />
