On March 28 th , 2004, Portland<br />
Police Officer Jason Sery shot James<br />
Jahar Perez <strong>to</strong> death during a traffic<br />
s<strong>to</strong>p. Perez was unarmed.<br />
Later that year Sery retired from<br />
the <strong>police</strong> department for a full time<br />
ministry position at the Southwest<br />
Bible Church and a teaching position<br />
at the Southwest Christian School.<br />
In January 2008 Jason Sery was<br />
hired by the Beaver<strong>to</strong>n Police<br />
Department.
