Marathon
Club (Inc.)
Don't be misled by our name. Whilst the Club takes its name
from the marathon and the Perth Marathon is the Club's
premier annual event - the name is symbolic only. The
Club is not only for marathon runners but also includes
runners of all ambitions - from the social fun runners, running
a few kilometres each week, to the budding "Monas", running
marathons.
The West Australian Marathon Club was formed in 1970
by a band of distance runners seeking a year-round road and
cross-country programme, which at the time, did not exist.
Since the early 1980s, the Club has catered primarily for the
needs of the recreational runner and is responsible for the
organisation of the following community events:
Asics Bridges Fun Run, Brooks Challenge Fun Run, Perth
Marathon, Asics Run for Gold Fun Run, Women’s Classic, Perth
Half Marathon, Fremantle Half Marathon, Fremantle Fun Run,
and Brooks Rottnest Marathon & Fun Run.
In addition to formal Club runs, mob runs and training
groups.
