Drama teachers can take a Broadway
Teaching Lab, which is produced in conjunction
with Music Theatre International,
where they see four Broadway shows and
participate in a series of workshops over
the course of three days during the summer.
“It’s a mixture of practical tips and
inspiration,” says Pam Pariseau, the coartistic
director of Broadway Classroom.
“They might learn stage combat moves
they need for a high school production,
for example. And it’s also a great opportunity
for networking.” Past workshop leaders
have included actor John Lloyd Young
(Jersey Boys), producer Kevin McCollum
and playwright David Auburn (Proof), presenting
educators with a rich background
in the world of Broadway.

com), which offers a blend of corporate
and educational programs. Although
many customers are high school students,
a large portion of the company’s business
comes from dance and performing arts
studios, as well as junior high schools and
universities. Each tour is customized to
the level of the group, from beginning to
advanced.
