Protective clothing for workers exposed to heat and flames
(not including Welders and Fire Fighters).
The standard specifies the performance requirements for
garments which protect the body from heat and flame.
EN ISO 11611:2007
Protective clothing for use in welding and allied processes.
The standard specifies 2 classes with specific performance
requirements:
Class 1 - lower level: less hazardous welding situations
Class 2 - higher level: more hazardous welding situations
EN 1149-5:2008
Protective clothing – electrostatic properties.
Antistatic PPE are certified to EN 1149-5:2008 as this
standard covers the performance requirements and refers to the
choice of 2 different test methods (EN 1149-1 or EN 1149-3)
Protective clothing against the thermal hazards of an
electric arc.
This performance standard specifies requirements and test
methods applicable to materials and garments used by
electrical workers to protect against the thermal hazards of
an electric arc. Requirements address to the relevant general
properties of the textiles and the arc thermal
resistance properties.
The arc thermal performance can be tested against the
(European) Box test (representing a constrained and directed
arc), which is carried out at a current of either 4kA (class1)
or 7kA (class 2).
The Protective performance for limited flame spread of
materials, material assemblies and protective clothing to
reduce the possibility of the clothing burning and
constituting a hazard. Additional Clothing requirements
are also specified.
Index 1 = the flame does not spread, there are no flaming
debris, no after glow, a hole may be formed
Index 2 = the flame does not spread, there are no flaming
debris, no after glow, no hole formation
Index 3 = the flame does not spread, there are no flaming
debris, no after glow, no hole formation, and the after flame
time of each individual specimen is less than 2 seconds
EN 471:2003 3:2
Specifies the requirements for high visibility clothing
capable of visually signalling the user’s presence.
The high visibility clothing is intended to provide conspicuity
of the wearer in any light condition when viewed by operators
of vehicles or other mechanized equipment during daylight
conditions and under illumination of headlights in the dark.
Performance requirements are colour and retroreflection as
well as minimum areas and placement of the materials in
protective clothing.
