OPERATIC & CLASSICAL
When we first began conducting record auctions, the Operatic & Classical section was sorted by label. As time went by, it seemed prudent to begin sorting by artist with Western
Hemisphere and Japanese pressings listed first, followed by the rest of the world. This system persisted for many years until our last catalog, VRA 50, in which we mixed
everything together and simply sorted by artist. Since Brian and I didn't receive a single complaint, it would appear that this new arrangement has the tacit approval of our
bidders; therefore, this will be the listing format for operatic and classical recordings from this point forward.
While I'm at it, I should mention that even though I enjoy opera and was raised on classical music, this genre has never been my area of real expertise. Fortunately I've had
knowledgeable friends who were always happy to answer my questions. Two of these fellows are record dealers themselves, and I'm sure you are already familiar with them.
But just in case you're not, I've no doubt that they would love to hear from you. Larry Holdridge lives in Amityville, New York, and may be reached at 631-598-2409 or by email
at larhold@bway.net. Milt Weiss resides in Hollywood, Florida, and can be reached at 954-962-8280. I don't think Milt knows which end of a computer to plug in, but he sure
knows his way around a pile of opera records. Thanks also to Earl Okin and Mike Earles for their help in picking out operatic selections for our Nauction Bidder Request Shows!
