Timothy Cardinal Dolan congratulates Bob and Cindy McCann, the honorees of the 2012 Gala Benefit held at The Waldorf=Astoria on March 21, 2012. 2012 Gala Catholic Charities held its Third Annual Gala Benefit at The Waldorf=Astoria. Breaking records in both fundraising and attendance, the event raised more than $2.5 million to help New Yorkers in need—non-Catholics and Catholics alike. Bob and Cindy McCann were honored for their consistent support of charitable organizations with a community development or education focus. Bob is Chief Executive Officer of UBS Group Americas and Cindy is currently pursuing her doctorate at Fordham University. Firefighter Regina Wilson and the New York Fire Department Emerald Society’s Pipe and Drum Corps performed, as well as stage and television actress, Megan Hilty. Pat Battle, anchor/reporter for NBC 4 New York, served as Mistress of Ceremonies. The Gala gathered a vibrant group of New Yorkers with a variety of backgrounds, from business to religion to fashion, who all share the common goal of helping their neighbors in need. The annual event is made possible by the generous support of the Catholic Charities Board of Trustees and members of the Cardinal’s Committee for Charity and the benevolence of the honorees, in partnership with their friends, families and colleagues. During the evening’s program, a Resolution of the Board of Trustees was presented by Edward Cardinal Egan to Rusty Staub, acknowledging and thanking him for his continuous and generous support of Catholic Charities. The 26th Annual Cardinal’s Golf Open The Cardinal’s Open, an annual golf classic sponsored by the Cardinal’s Committee for Charity, raises funds to support the work and mission of Catholic Charities.
