D2 Falkenstein Fortress Ruin,<br />
Falkenstein<br />
Falkenstein is one of the most famous<br />
fortresses of the Donnersberg massif (440<br />
m). The fortress is perched almost<br />
vertically approximately 100 m above the<br />
village of Falkenstein on jagged melaphyre<br />
cliffs. The fortress was rebuilt into an<br />
amphitheatre in 1993.<br />

C1 Moschelland Fortress Ruin,<br />
Obermoschel<br />
The floor plan shows the typical<br />
characteristics of a medieval fortress.<br />
Destroyed in 1689, the fortress still hints<br />
at its former grandiose size even today.<br />

Hundheim<br />
The church dates back to a Benedictine<br />
abbey built around 1230. Today's edifice<br />
shows gothic elements that have been<br />
incorporated in traditional Romanesque<br />
construction drawings.<br />
B2 Hirsau Chapel, Offenbach-<br />
Hundheim<br />
This edifice from the 12th century counts<br />
among the Palatinate's oldest. Paintings<br />
from the 13th century can be found in the<br />
altar room.<br />
C1 Parish Church, Finkenbach-<br />
Gersweiler<br />
Today, the structure displays a neo-gothic<br />
style. First documented in 1304.<br />

E2 Rosenthal Monastery Ruin,<br />
Kerzenheim-Rosenthal<br />
Former Cistercian abbey. Parts of the<br />
sidewalls with flying buttresses and the<br />
west gable with the little turret and stone<br />
bonnet roof typical for the valley are all<br />
that remained from the original singleaisle<br />
abbey church. The tomb plates of<br />
abbesses and founders can be found along<br />
the sidewalls of the churches.<br />
