tecting-systems in the intervall of the
windowpane or an inlying sun protection.
The advantage of shutters: you maintain the
outside view and arrange even lighter rooms
with light control. Furthermore, dimmable glass
is obtainable, which can be turned blue at the
touch of a button. So, they avert too much solar
radiation.
Wellbeing by contact with the na-
ture
What spares your purse on one side, gives you
more comfort on the other: the course of the
day can be observed more distinctly and the
view outside gives pleasure. “Just think about
the sunset, which you can comfortably enjoy,
even without getting up from your sofa” explains
Ronald Oelker. But also children or older
people, who have problems with looking outside
because of their height or because of afflictions,
get the opportunity to join the happenings
outside of the house uncomplicatedly.
“Even more, if there´s no balcony. Indeed, Floor
- to- ceiling windows arn´t a full-value substitude,
but they can help you using your apartment
better. Even more, they make it more attractive
The expert´s advice :
and with that, more rentable - or sellable.“ Important
on safety reasons: if there is a risk of
falling behind the floor- to- ceiling window it´s
got to be accomplished with security glass – if
it´s a balcony door, flat sills can be provided
because of possible tripping hazards.
Floor- to- ceiling windows and
underfloor heating
Floor- to- ceiling windows are often built in in
connection with underfloor heating. Floor- to-
ceiling windows are often built in in connection
with under floor heating.
“Then the glazing should be preferably accomplished
as a triple glazing”, defines Oelker. The
reason: Normally, under every window, a heater
is arranged. That heater supplies the
windowpane with heat in the winter. So, possible
occurring condensate or air draft
appearances can be avoided by convection
and irradiation of coldness. But in connection
with floor- to- ceiling windows, there´s often
used a floor heating system with low flow temperature.
Accordingly, the absent warmth
needs to be replaced by a good insulation.
If there´s a heater under your window which won´t allow the lowering
to a floor- to- ceiling window, you can still enlarge the window expanse up to
50 cm rest of parapet. That results round about 50 % more incidence of light and a, to a
large extent, unimpeded view outside, also when sitting down.
It is possible to build in a smaller heater with the same capacity – if still necessary.
