I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to Mark Anstey who for the
last four years or so has produced the best quality IAM group magazine
I have ever come across. Some of you may not be aware that this
magazine won an award from the IAM for being just that.
Thanks Mark!
We have now moved on to another era, and although at the time of
writing this I have not seen the finished article, I have previewed some
of Steve’s plans and am mightily impressed. I am aware that there are
two differing schools of thought regarding our magazine, mostly
relating to quality and cost. Firstly some believe that the quality of this
publication is second to none and a real feather in the cap of CADAM.
Others believe that the high cost of producing such a magazine is way
in excess of a meagre budget for what is still a relatively small club.
It is true that the cost is prohibitive especially given that the committee
and the editor have agreed to publish it bi monthly. However, I believe
if we can fund the majority of the expense by external sources, the
magazine in its current form is indeed a real publicity tool for our club.
I have some ideas which I will take to committee for consideration
along those lines. It will be interesting to see if we can sustain this quality
or if we have to succumb to financial restraints and reduce quality.
Also worth bearing in mind, due to minimum print runs, we have an
excess of magazines each month which will now be distributed
strategically to help promote our group.
I am sure that most of you, will by now, be aware of our calendar
of events for the coming year. Hopefully we have something to offer for
all of you. These events will only run by the goodwill of those organising
them, so please consider giving them as much support as you can.
Also included are several training events, some for associates, especially
those that are waiting for an observer (thank you for your patience) and
also full members. We really do need people to step forward and become
observers, so if you have any spare time, give it a try. There really isn’t
anything like the feeling of your first successful test candidate.
Anyway enough of my ramblings enjoy the rest of the magazine.
Ride safe
John
