FROM SCHOOL LIBRARY
TO LIBRARY LEARNING COMMONS:
A MODEL of PRO·ACTIVE SCHOOL‐WIDE AND SYSTEMIC CHANGE
Edited by Moira Ekdahl and Sylvia Zubke, Teacher-Librarians
Vancouver School District #39
May 2014
This document summarizes the work, over three years, of two groups of Vancouver teacherlibrarians
— one elementary and the other secondary — engaged in teacher inquiry. The inquiry
groups have described, in both personal and professional terms, the continuum of change by which
a school library becomes a Library Learning Commons in BC. They have been joined by voices of
TLs throughout BC who have successfully undertaken similar initiatives.
