• NSW crowds are down on average of 32,000.00 to between 18,000 and
22,000
• They have set up a group called Waratahs Rugby which is solely handling the
Waratahs and the deal is that they pay to NSW Rugby 1.1 million dollars for
the right to manage them
• Grain Corp are the new sponsor for the NSW Country Cockatoos which is very
good, because when the British Lions come out to play a combined
Queensland and NSW Country side and Queensland is also sponsored by
Grain Corp so this will assist in negotiations when the sponsorship review
comes up
• Problems that Country faces this year is that they only won one out of five
games where previous years they have won their games five out of five, but
what is happening now is that they are coming up against teams such as
Melbourne and ACT where they are playing contracted paid players, but this
is a matter that they have to meet
• Next point that he made was that one of the things that they are looking for
is that the Zones try and get their best players playing their representative
sides so they can be seen as at present there are some really good players
out there who are not playing for the Zones sides for a whole range of
different reasons
• Peter Woods spoke about his report and pointed out that with Junior Rugby monies
have been set aside from this year for next year, but only a proportion of that should
be paid, because the aim is to build up in the next 3 to 4 years a considerable sum
so that more monies can be spent each year then and that each year fees and Grand
Final gate money can just keep topping it up.
• There were discussions concerning the Grand Final monies and we will make money
out of the Grand Final, but at present letters are going off to WIN Stadium Insurers
making a claim for the loss that we had as a result of the reduction in gate fees as to
what we could have charged at WIN Stadium and also the expenses that we have
incurred having to have it at a separate event and all the invoices have been obtained
are now going to go to the Insurers and we will keep the clubs informed once a
decision has been finally made as to the money situation.
• Many thanks to all the affiliates for all their kindness and consideration in dealing
with myself, I find it very gratifying that there is a sense that everyone wants to do
the best and a sense of cooperation. The only problem that I have is that
sometimes the "great god email", people are insensitive in how they put their point
of view. I am always available to talk to people on the telephone if they ring my
office if I am not in then a message will be taken by my secretaries and then I can get
back to them.
• Peter Woods moved the report, seconded by Peter Leiner, accepted
