About the Playwright<br />
Timothy Findley, affectionately known as "Tiff," was one of Canada's best-loved<br />
writers. He is the author of many acclaimed novels, including the bestseller<br />
Headhunter, Pilgrim and The Piano Man's Daughter. Timothy was commissioned<br />
by The Stratford Festival to write this play, Elizabeth Rex, which won the Governor<br />
General’s Award for drama in 2000. Another of his plays, also produced here at<br />
<strong>Langham</strong>, The Stillborn Lover won a Chalmers Award.<br />
His many other works have garnered critical acclaim both in Canada and internationally.<br />
Timothy Findley was made an officer of the Order of Canada and a Chevalier de<br />
l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. He died at his home in France in June, 2002.<br />
