with the European Parliament, the Committee of the Regions and the

14. Promoting the exchange of good practices across the EU through
the Regions for Economic Change Initiative
15. Fostering partnership through consultation on all major policy
initiatives with the regions and cities, business, academia and NGOs
16. Responding to natural disasters by providing aid under the EU
Solidarity Fund following 34 natural catastrophes in 18 Member States
17. Multiplying investment resources through new joint initiatives with
international financial institutions, introducing innovative forms of
finance for SMEs and urban development
18. Supporting candidate countries for membership of the EU with the
Instrument for Pre-Accession in support of key investment projects
and cross-border co-operation
19. Opening to the rest of the world by promoting the model of
European regional policy with major countries outside the Union such
as Brazil, Russia and China, as well as in Africa
