The President’s Page<br />
June 4 saw 24 of us go on this year’s first Chapter trip. We<br />
went from Amtrak’s station <strong>by</strong> deluxe motor coach to<br />
Spooner, WI There is a large museum at Spooner, which we<br />
frequented, and then on to the Wisconsin and Great Northern<br />
RR to ride the private car Aristocrat. Our trip went north to<br />
Springbrook, WI. In addition, we got a wooden caboose where<br />
several members enjoyed “vista dome” riding in the cupola.<br />
Rains came and went but never on us. The only problem was<br />
our bus conked out on the way back and we had to wait<br />
about an hour for a replacement.<br />
I wanted this trip to be priced at cost. Our members worked<br />
hard to make our national convention last year, the success it<br />
was, and I felt that we needed some sort of payback. In the<br />
past, we tried to make some money on these trips, but we<br />
now have a nice bank account and offering trips like this at<br />
