unveiled the i8 Hybrid sports car. Sachin<br />
Tendulkar launched the new <strong>2015</strong> BMW<br />
i8 hybrid sports car, which is touted<br />
to rival big names likes Ferrari <strong>and</strong><br />
Lamborghini.<br />
Progressive driving pleasure<br />
BMW i8, second product in the newly<br />
established “i” range, after the pure<br />
electric i3 hatchback, <strong>and</strong> is the first<br />
mid-engined BMW since the glorious<br />
days of the M1 supercar. BMW is proud<br />
of the i8’s chassis construction, which<br />
they call it the “Life-Drive architecture”.<br />
As the first sports car with the<br />
consumption <strong>and</strong> emission values of a<br />
<strong>com</strong>pact car.The strength of the plugin<br />
hybrid lies, among other factors, in<br />
the perfect synchronization of electric<br />
motor <strong>and</strong> <strong>com</strong>bustion engine, which<br />

1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol motor <strong>and</strong> an<br />
electric motor placed at the front <strong>and</strong><br />
rear axles, respectively. Under the hood<br />
the i8 <strong>com</strong>es with a 1.5-litre inline 3<br />
petrol engine <strong>and</strong> a 7.1kWh lithium-ion<br />
battery which gives it the tag of a hybrid.<br />
Power from the gasoline engine st<strong>and</strong>s<br />
at 228bhp, while the electric motor<br />
punches out 129bhp, while the <strong>com</strong>bined<br />
tally st<strong>and</strong>s at a massive 357bhp.<br />
In all-electric mode the BMW i8 boasts of<br />
a top speed of 120 km/h. In Sport mode<br />
the i8 delivers a mid-range acceleration<br />
from 80 to 120 km/h in 2.6 seconds.<br />
The electronically controlled top speed<br />
st<strong>and</strong>s at 250 km/h.<br />
