ROSIE & THE NAKED MOLE RATS

The film offers a humorous portrait of the world’s ugliest animal. Called "sand puppies” and "evolutionary
joke", naked mole rats are tiny, furless African mammals with amazing behavior patterns. In this
intriguing documentary, we go underground for an in-depth look at what makes these busy and highly
social little animals function so much like insects.
The naked mole rat lives in communities divided into workers and soldiers who serve a queen. As the
biggest rodent in the colony, she bullies not only her workers, but also the other females as well. All in
all, a behavior much more like that of ants or termites than of other mammals.
By building artificial burrows, Rosie Koch, a young zoologist, discovers that mole rats don’t feel pain
and live five times longer than their near relatives – which means that their genes might also hold
secrets for human aging as well.

Zoran Madzirovs musical journey begins in the balkans, in the south of Macedonia. Influenced by irregular
balkan beats, Roma-music as well as Classical composers he seeks recognition in the West. Final
destination New York. Not accepting the dependence on gravity, like any other percussionist, he musically
redefines the laws of Newton. This freedom enables him to invent and virtuously play instruments
like the Bottlephone (water tuned bottles), bicycle tires and transforming almost any object into a
vibrating musical tool. Questioning categorization, the filmmaker's role is fluid between narrative and
musical composition. Considering images as tunes this film explores dimensions of illumination and

Valentina (16) and Suli (17) got to know each other some years
ago in a refugees' home in suburban Munich.Valentina is the
leader of a girl Gang. She will have to go to the borstal because
of leading fights among the girls and causing civil disorder.
Suli admires Valentina's outspokenness but she worries about
her friend who doesn't want to wait for better days.
This film shows the life of some teenagers in Germany while
growing up in a certain social context. It seems to confirm the
prejudicesabout so-called parallel societies and at the same time shows their absurdity. It is a film
about today's problems including the question about tomorrow. A film, that focuses an the potential
of the individual going beyond all the statistics about underdogs.
