CONFERENCE
During the March church conference, the Committee on Committees made a request to change the
future planning committee from a standing committee to a service committee. The church By-Laws
require that a proposed change to the by-laws requires that the proposed amendment be furnished
to each resident member prior to the next church conference. Here is the proposed amendment:
The Committee on Committees (COC) recommends that the Future Planning Committee be changed
from a Standing Committee to a Service Committee. Article VII of the By-Laws deal with committee
structure.
The COC proposes that the By-Laws be amended by striking Article VII, Paragraph A, Line 5 that
states the responsibilities of the Future Planning Committee.
The By-Laws should be further amended by inserting the stricken text under Article VII, Paragraph C,
which lists Service Committees, after Line 7 such that Line 8 of Paragraph C would read:
8. Future Planning Committee is responsible for developing plans that will accommodate the physical,
educational, and spiritual growth of the church.
This will allow greater continuity and long term outlook from the members of this committee. Current
members of this committee will continue to serve until such a time that they should choose to step
down or such time as the church chooses to remove them.
Please know we will have our monthly Church Conference on April 15.
