Conover’s Poet of the Pines
Enos F. Hayward homesteaded 80 acres
on Highway 32 and in the quiet setting, he
wrote a novel in 1904 “Two Bits”
“Philosopy of Rhymes” in 1914 and
“Poems of the Northwoods” in 1922.
A stalward man with a wave in his hair, he
loved conversation and last lived on
Stormy Lake.
