oligomer migrates tested did not induce an oestrogenic response (Anonymous, 1998). The<br />

oligomer migrates <strong>for</strong> the study were prepared using an aggressive <strong>food</strong> simulant (50% aqueous<br />

ethanol) with exaggerated exposure conditions. The highest levels of both dimers and trimers<br />

were from HIPS samples, but these were very low with a maximum dimer level of<br />

0.65 mg/l (ppm) and a maximum trimer level of 1.55 mg/l (ppm) (Klärner et al., 1998).<br />

Based on extensive investigations over the last three years, Japanese health authorities have<br />

removed styrene oligomers from the SPEED list (list of possible endocrine substances).<br />
