A Human Impossibility!
However, as great and hard-working as these men
were, they could never cleanse or clothe your soul in
preparation for meeting God after death. Regarding
our spiritual condition, God has decreed that “all
have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”
(Romans 3:23). Consequently, “we are all as an unclean
thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy
rags” (Isaiah 64:6). We, as sinners, are unfit for heaven!
To be accepted by God, something more is needed
than soap and the merchant’s clothing. God says,
“For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take
thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before
me, saith the Lord GOD” (Jeremiah 2:22).
Is there a remedy? Thank God there is! “The Father
sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world (1 John
4:14). “Christ died for our sins” (1 Corinthians 15:3)
and “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth
us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). These are tremendous
facts, friend! Have you been cleansed by the blood
of Christ, or are you unclean and simply clothed
with your own righteousness of religion and good
works? Those who have trusted the Lord Jesus as
their own Saviour can exclaim, “I will greatly rejoice
in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for
He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness”
(Isaiah 61:10). Dear friend, how about You?
