BOOKS THAT BROACH DIFFERENCE Talking about gender diversity and other differences while meeting children’s needs can be a challenge for educators. It is important to talk to children about difference, to reflect the diversity of the children and families attending early childhood education and care, and school aged care. The library has a new range of children’s books about different families. These are just two examples: The ideas in these books draw on existing activities such as songs, stories and movement. Each activity includes guidance on: what you need, what to do, taking it forward, what’s in it for children and a suggested children book. Activities can be presented to children in small groups or larger groups.
