THE RISK<br />
The risk for aid workers and others working in<br />
developing countries in, or emerging from conflict<br />
has increased and risk management has become<br />
more complex and difficult over the past decade.<br />
The need for a better and more comprehensive field<br />
security training has emerged. The training of all<br />
categories of personell operating in high risk environments<br />
in basic skills and behaviour, help save lives.<br />
The NRC has decades of experience from successfully<br />
operating the worlds` most complex and dynamic<br />
emergencies. We now present the benefits of this<br />
exeprience to you.<br />
THE COURSE<br />
The Hostile Environment Awareness <strong>Training</strong>-<br />
Course:<br />
is open for invitees only, but target groups are in<br />
particular; (I)NGO’s, UN, MFA, and media.<br />
The topics covered:<br />
* Personal safety and security<br />
* Use of communication equipment<br />
* GPS and map reading<br />
* Actions on upon likely threats<br />
* UXO/IED threat<br />
* Basic Security Risk Assessment<br />
* Basic First Aid<br />
This training adress current issues and challenges<br />
faced by personnel working in environments with<br />
complex security challenges. <strong>Training</strong> modules can be<br />
added upon specific requests by invitees, based on<br />
relevance to their needs.<br />
All training is conducted in English language.<br />
THE PLACE<br />
The place:<br />
The training will be conducted outside Oslo in the<br />
area of Gardermoen at Garder course and conference<br />
hotell, with nearby ideal locations for practical<br />
training/exercises.<br />
The trainers:<br />
The <strong>HEAT</strong> instructor staff all have first hand experience<br />
from successfully operating in the most dangerous<br />
places in the world. Our instructors are all<br />
hand picked NRC staff, and external instructors, with<br />
substantial and recent experience from “the field”.
