Russell joins
community
car drivers
Congratulations to Russell Dodwell from
Kiewa who is the most recent Community
Car volunteer driver. Russell recently
completed his application and induction
process to become a driver and will now be part of the network of
drivers throughout the Shire who are able to provide a community
transport service for residents. People who have difficulty getting to
appointments can access this service, including young people, frail
aged, people with disabilities, low income families, and mothers
without their own transport.
Council encourages anyone wanting to become a volunteer
Community Car driver to contact the Volunteer and Food Services
Officer, Renee Dunlop, on 02 6028 1159 or 1300 365 003 (cost of a local
call). Council supports the operation of Community Cars in the districts
of Kiewa/Tangambalanga, Yackandandah and Beechworth.
Baarmutha Function
Centre Bookings
The recently constructed upstairs function area of the Baarmutha Park
Multipurpose Function Centre in Beechworth, known as the ‘Baarmutha Function
Centre’, is available to the community for activities such as workshops,
presentations, meetings and social activities.
The Baarmutha Park Committee of Management has contracted the Beechworth
Football and Netball Club to manage the bookings and maintenance of this space.

A more efficient telephone system is being
installed in Council offices. The aim is to
provide a more streamlined service for our
customers.
• The new system will be up and running
by early December.
• The current phone numbers remain the
same.
• It will allow a more efficient transfer and
flow of calls throughout the organisation
with voicemail options on all extensions.
• The night and holiday messages
will provide a direct link to emergency
contacts. This means callers will not have
to hang up and call another number.
• Instead of ‘musak’ (music that plays while
you wait to be answered) there will be a
series of informative messages on
Council events and general services.
• The new technology will result in a
reduction of line rental charges providing
future savings on annual costs.
