THE FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE
Reaches out and extends a helping hand to families whose
children have special needs and involves them in a full range of
Jewish and social experiences. The Friendship Circle’s unique
formula introduces teenage volunteers to the children and
through shared experiences, both are enriched. The Friendship
Circle is made up of five parts, the volunteers, children,
parents, staff and supporters. The true beauty of the circle is
how we all link together to form a seamless circle of friendship.
Judaica Circle
Day and Time: Tuesday 5:15-6:45 PM
Participants: Children ages 6-10
The commitment to educating all children
according to their needs is rooted in
fundamental Jewish values. JC is a place
where the children can feel safe and
comfortable while embracing their Jewish
roots. In a Hebrew school like setting, the
lessons are multi-sensory and hands on. Our
students will gain an appreciation for the
joys, values and tradition of our heritage as
they are vividly brought to life by their
dedicated, enthusiastic teachers and
volunteers.
Sunday Circle
Day and Time: once a month 1:00-3:00 PM
Participants: Children ages 2-16
(siblings welcomed)
Cost: $10.00 a week
Is your child looking for a fun way to spend
Sunday afternoon? The Sunday circle drop
off program is fun, lively, and social.
A unique opportunity for the children to
gain from group activities, while still
receiving one-on-one attention from their
dedicated volunteers and caring staff. The
children partake in different activities such
as Jewish crafts, music and karate. Each
week ends with an exciting show.
Sunday Trips
Day and Time: To be announced
Participants : Children 4-16
Volunteers and their friends will hop on a
bus together for a day full of fun and
excitement. Why not go out into the
community and visit some interesting
places, meet new people, and learn new
skills? Each trip will increase their
independence and self-confidence while
experiencing the world around us.
Sib Circle
Day and Time: Mondays, monthly
from 5:30-6:30 PM
Participants: Siblings of children with
special needs, ages 6-12
Costs: $5.00 a class
Children who have a sibling with special
needs, have needs of their own. The
siblings get together to express the
good, and maybe not so good feelings
about having a member in their family
with special needs. Of course we never
leave out the fun. At each program sibs
enjoy creating projects and playing
games. With clever discussions and fun
times, there’s never a dull moment.
Siblings are also invited to participate in
the Friends at Home program, Sunday
Circle, and Camps with their own
volunteer.

Summer/Winter Camp
What can be more fun than one of the greatest
programs of the year, an action-packed, out of
the world, forever thrilling day camp? For this
much anticipated fun-filled week, the children
will enjoy trips around town. Each child is
paired up with a loving volunteer, to share an
experience that will last a life time.
Mom’s Night Out
Day and Time: Wednesday, monthly 8:30 PM
A special evening dedicated to the noble
moms of the Friendship Circle, giving them an
enjoyable and rejuvenating time. The moms
will undoubtedly enjoy a great evening of
camaraderie, cuisine and creative concepts,
and all the same time, relax, exchange ideas,
network with other moms, and hear from
helpful and informative speakers.
Holiday Programs
Day and Time: To be announced
Experience the magic of the Jewish calendar with
refreshments, crafts, games and unique
entertainment. Whether it’s making real olive oil
on Chanukah, or fashioning a functional shofar
before Rosh Hashanah, Jewish Holiday Programs
at the Friendship Circle are full of excitement and
hands on fun. These are the times when
Friendship Circle families and volunteers get
together to prepare for the upcoming holidays
and celebrate their Jewish heritage.
Sports
Day and Time: Mondays 6:00-7:00 PM
Session 1: January
Session 2: March
Participants: Children 5-16, siblings welcome
Cost: $10.00 a week
Sports, is the key to building confidence and physical health. At Sports
Night, volunteers coach their special friends, teaching them to shoot hoops
and kick goals. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, volunteers
will guide their friends as they develop skill and competence. The greatest
success this program accomplishes is the everlasting connection built
between each child and his volunteer.
Friends at Home
Day and Time: 1 hour a week
Participants: All children and sibs
Cost: free
The Friends at Home program gives children the chance to get to know their
volunteers in an environment they are most comfortable in: their own homes.
Together, they can bake cookies, play games, create arts ‘n crafts, play in the
snow, read books and do just about anything fun! With so much to look
forward to at these visits, it is no wonder the children wait all week for their
volunteers to show up at their doorsteps!
Volunteer Club
Participants: Volunteer 9th grade and up
Being a volunteer not only brings light into the life of a child but also into the life of
the volunteers. Welcome to the Friendship Circle’s vibrant Volunteer Club! Teens
have the opportunity to meet others who are as giving, committed and fun as they
are! The Friendship Circle rewards volunteers’ altruism with a vigorous round the
year program of exhilarating social outings. Teens can take pride in being part of
this seamless circle of Friendship. It’s cool to be kind!
