THE FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE<br />
Reaches out and extends a helping hand to families whose<br />
children have special needs and involves <strong>the</strong>m in a full range <strong>of</strong><br />
Jewish and social experiences. The Friendship Circle’s unique<br />
formula introduces teenage volunteers to <strong>the</strong> children and<br />
through shared experiences, both are enriched. The Friendship<br />
Circle is made up <strong>of</strong> five parts, <strong>the</strong> volunteers, children,<br />
parents, staff and supporters. The true beauty <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> circle is<br />
how we all link toge<strong>the</strong>r to form a seamless circle <strong>of</strong> friendship.<br />
Judaica Circle<br />
Day and Time: Tuesday 5:15-6:45 PM<br />
Participants: Children ages 6-10<br />
The commitment to educating all children<br />
according to <strong>the</strong>ir needs is rooted in<br />
fundamental Jewish values. JC is a place<br />
where <strong>the</strong> children can feel safe and<br />
comfortable while embracing <strong>the</strong>ir Jewish<br />
roots. In a Hebrew school like setting, <strong>the</strong><br />
lessons are multi-sensory and hands on. Our<br />
students will gain an appreciation for <strong>the</strong><br />
joys, values and tradition <strong>of</strong> our heritage as<br />
<strong>the</strong>y are vividly brought to life by <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
dedicated, enthusiastic teachers and<br />
volunteers.<br />
Sunday Circle<br />
Day and Time: once a month 1:00-3:00 PM<br />
Participants: Children ages 2-16<br />
(siblings welcomed)<br />
Cost: $10.00 a week<br />
Is your child looking for a fun way to spend<br />
Sunday afternoon? The Sunday circle drop<br />
<strong>of</strong>f program is fun, lively, and social.<br />
A unique opportunity for <strong>the</strong> children to<br />
gain from group activities, while still<br />
receiving one-on-one attention from <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
dedicated volunteers and caring staff. The<br />
children partake in different activities such<br />
as Jewish crafts, music and karate. Each<br />
week ends with an exciting show.<br />
Sunday Trips<br />
Day and Time: To be announced<br />
Participants : Children 4-16<br />
Volunteers and <strong>the</strong>ir friends will hop on a<br />
bus toge<strong>the</strong>r for a day full <strong>of</strong> fun and<br />
excitement. Why not go out into <strong>the</strong><br />
community and visit some interesting<br />
places, meet new people, and learn new<br />
skills? Each trip will increase <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
independence and self-confidence while<br />
experiencing <strong>the</strong> world around us.<br />
Sib Circle<br />
Day and Time: Mondays, monthly<br />
from 5:30-6:30 PM<br />
Participants: Siblings <strong>of</strong> children with<br />
special needs, ages 6-12<br />
Costs: $5.00 a class<br />
Children who have a sibling with special<br />
needs, have needs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir own. The<br />
siblings get toge<strong>the</strong>r to express <strong>the</strong><br />
good, and maybe not so good feelings<br />
about having a member in <strong>the</strong>ir family<br />
with special needs. Of course we never<br />
leave out <strong>the</strong> fun. At each program sibs<br />
enjoy creating projects and playing<br />
games. With clever discussions and fun<br />
times, <strong>the</strong>re’s never a dull moment.<br />
Siblings are also invited to participate in<br />
<strong>the</strong> Friends at Home program, Sunday<br />
Circle, and Camps with <strong>the</strong>ir own<br />
volunteer.<br />

Summer/Winter Camp<br />
What can be more fun than one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> greatest<br />
programs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> year, an action-packed, out <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> world, forever thrilling day camp? For this<br />
much anticipated fun-filled week, <strong>the</strong> children<br />
will enjoy trips around town. Each child is<br />
paired up with a loving volunteer, to share an<br />
experience that will last a life time.<br />
Mom’s Night Out<br />
Day and Time: Wednesday, monthly 8:30 PM<br />
A special evening dedicated to <strong>the</strong> noble<br />
moms <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Friendship Circle, giving <strong>the</strong>m an<br />
enjoyable and rejuvenating time. The moms<br />
will undoubtedly enjoy a great evening <strong>of</strong><br />
camaraderie, cuisine and creative concepts,<br />
and all <strong>the</strong> same time, relax, exchange ideas,<br />
network with o<strong>the</strong>r moms, and hear from<br />
helpful and informative speakers.<br />
Holiday Programs<br />
Day and Time: To be announced<br />
Experience <strong>the</strong> magic <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Jewish calendar with<br />
refreshments, crafts, games and unique<br />
entertainment. Whe<strong>the</strong>r it’s making real olive oil<br />
on Chanukah, or fashioning a functional sh<strong>of</strong>ar<br />
before Rosh Hashanah, Jewish Holiday Programs<br />
at <strong>the</strong> Friendship Circle are full <strong>of</strong> excitement and<br />
hands on fun. These are <strong>the</strong> times when<br />
Friendship Circle families and volunteers get<br />
toge<strong>the</strong>r to prepare for <strong>the</strong> upcoming holidays<br />
and celebrate <strong>the</strong>ir Jewish heritage.<br />
Sports<br />
Day and Time: Mondays 6:00-7:00 PM<br />
Session 1: January<br />
Session 2: March<br />
Participants: Children 5-16, siblings welcome<br />
Cost: $10.00 a week<br />
Sports, is <strong>the</strong> key to building confidence and physical health. At Sports<br />
Night, volunteers coach <strong>the</strong>ir special friends, teaching <strong>the</strong>m to shoot hoops<br />
and kick goals. Under <strong>the</strong> guidance <strong>of</strong> an experienced instructor, volunteers<br />
will guide <strong>the</strong>ir friends as <strong>the</strong>y develop skill and competence. The greatest<br />
success this program accomplishes is <strong>the</strong> everlasting connection built<br />
between each child and his volunteer.<br />
Friends at Home<br />
Day and Time: 1 hour a week<br />
Participants: All children and sibs<br />
Cost: free<br />
The Friends at Home program gives children <strong>the</strong> chance to get to know <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
volunteers in an environment <strong>the</strong>y are most comfortable in: <strong>the</strong>ir own homes.<br />
Toge<strong>the</strong>r, <strong>the</strong>y can bake cookies, play games, create arts ‘n crafts, play in <strong>the</strong><br />
snow, read books and do just about anything fun! With so much to look<br />
forward to at <strong>the</strong>se visits, it is no wonder <strong>the</strong> children wait all week for <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
volunteers to show up at <strong>the</strong>ir doorsteps!<br />
Volunteer Club<br />
Participants: Volunteer 9th grade and up<br />
Being a volunteer not only brings light into <strong>the</strong> life <strong>of</strong> a child but also into <strong>the</strong> life <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> volunteers. Welcome to <strong>the</strong> Friendship Circle’s vibrant Volunteer Club! Teens<br />
have <strong>the</strong> opportunity to meet o<strong>the</strong>rs who are as giving, committed and fun as <strong>the</strong>y<br />
are! The Friendship Circle rewards volunteers’ altruism with a vigorous round <strong>the</strong><br />
year program <strong>of</strong> exhilarating social outings. Teens can take pride in being part <strong>of</strong><br />
this seamless circle <strong>of</strong> Friendship. It’s cool to be kind!
