example, with this Directive <strong>the</strong> EC may<br />

issue binding specifications for intelligent<br />

transportation systems in <strong>the</strong> <strong>future</strong>.<br />

Technological innovations in <strong>the</strong> field<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>traffic</strong> information, driver assistance<br />

systems and intervention in hazardous<br />

situations will make it possible to develop<br />

fur<strong>the</strong>r <strong>traffic</strong> <strong>management</strong> innovations.<br />

For example, imagine <strong>the</strong> enormous opportunities<br />

<strong>of</strong>fered by <strong>the</strong> communication<br />

between in-vehicle and roadside systems.<br />
